- disclose and take reasonable steps to avoid any conflict of interest (real or apparent) in connection with the library
- use provided resources in a proper manner
- not provide false or misleading information in your application for a placement with La Pagina en la Puerta
- be responsible for paying for any damage they may cause at the library project
- will respect all local laws, regulations and the culture of Cusco and Peru
In addition gross misconduct will be considered to have occurred if a volunteer's actions may jeopardize the functioning or good name of La Pagina en la Puerta in any way. Gross misconduct is considered as, but not limited to:
- Physical violence
- Inappropriate conduct with children
- Excessive alcohol consumption or drug abuse
- Deliberate damage to property
- Theft and/or fraud
- Negligence which causes serious consequences for La Pagina en la Puerta
- Breaking the laws of Peru, even if it is not an offense in the volunteer’s country of origin
Volunteer dismissal
If the volunteer is considered to have committed gross misconduct or any serious breach of the La Pagina en La Puerta Code of Conduct occurs, the volunteer will be removed from the project. This will be effective immediately and no compensation or refund will be forthcoming in these circumstances.
Language Study participation
- There are no classes on national holidays or certain Cusco holidays. The missed class hours will be redistributed during the other class days.
- The hours missed in a group class cannot be made up. The hours missed in one-to-one lessons can be made up upon arrangement ONLY if the teacher has been informed before-hand.
Accommodation
Accommodation is being provided, in a homestay environment with a family, only for those volunteers participating in the Volunteer and Language Program. All other volunteers have agreed to be responsible for their own accommodations while in Cusco.
