Why donate?
Enjoying the gift of reading and jumping into the world of literature is something that all children deserve. The children’s library La Página en la Puerta, if not the only, is one of very few libraries that serve the children of Cusco. All children are welcome and it is free to them. Maintaining this children’s library requires ongoing investment in expanding our book collection, development of new programs, and providing teachers who lovingly work with the children to grow their love of reading and comprehension. You can be a part of these efforts by becoming a volunteer, donor or sponsor.
What to donate?
- Books in Spanish!!! This project is focused on developing children’s love for literature and comprehension using books in Spanish. It is of the utmost importance that these children are literate in their own language before they tackle an additional language.
- Quality learning games.
Where does the money go?
Contributions go directly to the library to insure that it is open five days a week, pay the teachers, develop new programs, and to buy new books, games, and materials for the children to enjoy and benefit from. Funds also assists in covering overhead and administrative costs including recruitment and support of volunteers, correspondence, legal and accounting services.
