Cusco
Cusco is an international meeting place that attracts people from all over the globe. It is one of the most amazing cultural centers in the world where one is continually walking through a blend of Inca and Spanish history and culture.
In Cusco’s center one is witness to buildings with the original Inca construction supporting the Spanish Colonial buildings that were built right on top.
The majority of hotels (from basic hostels to 5 star hotels, and boutique hotels) are located in or near Cusco’s downtown cultural center – just a short walk to the Plaza de Armas. In Cusco one can find great restaurants serving local foods and international foods from economic to more expensive prices.
There are a variety of museums, and galleries; and a plethora of artisan and craft markets, shops, and groceries. Looming just up the hill and over the main square is the amazing archeological site of Sacsaywayman, within walking distance from the Plaza de Armas.
Cusco is the perfect jumping off point for an array of tourist attractions such as trekking – day or overnight hikes, camping, rafting, mountain biking, and horseback riding, just to name a few.
There are a large number of travel agents in and around Cusco’s plaza at the ready to set up a tour of the city; or the Sacred Valley – home to the archaeological site and artisan market of Pisac, the weaving village and barter market of Chinchero, the above ground salt mines of Maras, Moray, and the continuously inhabited town since pre-Inca times and archaeological site of Ollantaytambo; the
