The Game Room...
...is the third area in the library and one of the favorite areas after the reading room. The doors to the game room open once children have finished doing homework and reading. This area can accommodate up to 12 children at a time. There are tables to sit at and rubber alphabet mats to sit comfortably on the floor. There is also a blackboard to draw and write on.
Children have been enjoying games such as chess, checkers, Parcheesi, Memory, Scrabble, Mathematica, and Uno. One of the favorites is Twister with a twist. Instead of playing with colors, this version of twister has all the continents and countries of the world.
The game room fosters wonderful new friendships and reinforces existing comradeship between the children. Children also develop their reading skills by reading game rules and enjoying puzzle books that with each turn of the page the story continues and there is a puzzle to take apart and reassemble. Children have continual opportunities to develop thinking and sharing skills while having fun playing a game on their own or with other children.
