La Pagina en la Puerta Mission Statement
- La Pagina en la Puerta is a place for children, ages 6 and older (younger children with an adult) to come, open the door, and enter the wonderful world of reading. Each page of a book will be an opening of a door that brings a child to a new place or one they already are familiar with; introduces children to new people, characters, and animals; presents new and fascinating ideas and concepts.
- La Pagina en la Puerta aims to develop and improve self esteem; increase creativity, and fine-tune critical thinking skills through reading and a friendly and loving environment.
- La Pagina en la Puerta welcomes children to come to read and enjoy books, of their own choosing, on their own or with a friend or group of friends.
- La Pagina en la Puerta offers each child support and help in developing and improving their reading and comprehension skills.
- La Pagina en la Puerta provides children a safe and quiet place where they can do their homework, with texts, references, tools, and personal, warm, and friendly help presented with positive reinforcement.
- La Pagina en la Puerta gives children an opportunity to engage and share with other children while playing learning games that develop thinking skills, such as chess, puzzles, dominoes, and checkers.
- La Pagina en la Puerta encourages children to feel good about their accomplishments, whether they are with reading and comprehension skills, their homework, or learning a new game.
- La Pagina en la Puerta disciplines children in a manner that leaves them feeling positive about themselves while improving their behaviors.
